This matter came to light when Kang Daniel hosted the live broadcast of the final episode of Mnet’s dance competition show “Street Man Fighter” on November 8. The idol took a moment to thank the program’s sponsors after the final battle ended- but took viewers by surprise when he mentioned the wrong brand.

While the main sponsor of the event is Seagram, Kang Daniel instead mentions the rival brand Trevi. He said, “I also want to thank our sponsors. Trevi tastes great!” He then continued, “I was just kidding. But I’m half-sincere.”
A broadcasting official criticized him for his mistake, comment“The MCs don’t even know the ‘base’.”

Mnet too answer for this matter, said that they will remove Kang Daniel’s comments from the final rerun of “Street man Fighter” and will add background music. They also stated that the idol’s final scene on the show would be edited and rebroadcast.

Some netizens said that Kang might not be an MC anymore, while others commented that he should have prepared more since it was a live broadcast. One netizen also stated that the fact that he said “half-sincere” was more of a rejection of Seagram.
